QuickBooks Desktop 2024 Download (Pro Plus, Enterprise, Mac)

The download is free — the license is what you pay for

QuickBooks Desktop 2024 installers are published by Intuit and can be downloaded by anyone. What the installer cannot do on its own is activate: for that it needs a valid license number and product number for the same edition. So the question is never "where can I get QuickBooks for free?" but "where do I get the official installer that matches my license?" This guide answers that for each 2024 edition.

Two official places to get the installer

1. The link in your order email. Every TaxUSA license email includes a download link for your exact edition, pointing to Intuit's own servers. It is the quickest route because there is nothing to choose.
2. Intuit's "Download QuickBooks Desktop" page at downloads.quickbooks.com. Choose United States as the country, then the product and 2024 as the version, and the page offers the matching installer.

Anything else — file-sharing sites, "mirrors", archives promising a pre-activated copy — is not an official source. Our license safety checklist explains why those are worth avoiding.

Which installer matches which edition

• Pro Plus 2024: Pro Plus is listed under QuickBooks Desktop Pro on Intuit's page, so choose QuickBooks Desktop Pro and version 2024. Your Pro Plus 2024 codes activate that installer.
• Enterprise 2024: the Enterprise installer, version 24.0 (Intuit names Enterprise releases by number — Enterprise Solutions 24.0 is the 2024 release). The Windows file is typically named QuickBooksEnterprise24.exe.
• Enterprise Accountant 2024: the Accountant build of Enterprise 24.0. Use the link in your order email, because the standard Enterprise and the Accountant build are separate downloads.
• Mac Plus 2024: on Intuit's page choose QuickBooks Mac Desktop and version 2024. It downloads as a Mac disk image rather than a Windows .exe. See our Mac Plus 2024 guide for the Mac-specific steps.

The rule that saves the most time: install the edition your codes were issued for. Pro codes will not activate the Enterprise installer, and 2023 codes will not activate a 2024 installer.

Step by step: downloading the right file

1. Check your computer first. QuickBooks Desktop 2024 for Windows needs 64-bit Windows 11 (or Windows Server 2016–2022) on an Intel or AMD processor; Mac Plus needs macOS 12 Monterey or later. Details in our system requirements guide.
2. Open the download link from your order email, or Intuit's download page with United States, your product and 2024 selected.
3. Save the file to your Downloads folder instead of running it from the browser.
4. On Windows, right-click the file, choose Properties → Digital Signatures, and confirm the signer is Intuit Inc.
5. Close other programs and run the installer as a Windows administrator, then follow our install and activation walkthrough.

Downloading for several computers

With a multi-user license, download the same installer on each computer that will run QuickBooks and use the same license and product numbers on each. The computer that only stores the shared company file can use the same installer with the "I will NOT be using QuickBooks Desktop on this computer" option, which installs the Database Server Manager. When the download misbehaves

• It stalls or fails part-way. Check free disk space, pause VPNs or download accelerators, and try again in Google Chrome (which Intuit lists as a requirement for QuickBooks Desktop 2024 anyway).
• Your security software quarantines it. Restore it only after confirming the Intuit Inc. digital signature.
• You installed the wrong year or edition. Uninstall it from Windows Settings → Apps, then download the installer that matches your codes.
• The installer will not start. Run the QuickBooks Install Diagnostic Tool from Intuit's free QuickBooks Tool Hub, restart, and try again.
