QuickBooks Desktop 2025 or 2026? Why 2024 Is the Latest

The short answer
There is no QuickBooks Desktop 2025 or 2026. The latest version of QuickBooks Desktop is 2024 — Pro Plus 2024, Premier Plus 2024, Mac Plus 2024 and Enterprise 24.0.
In February 2026 the QuickBooks Team explained it in the Intuit Community: the 2025 and 2026 releases were not published as separate new versions, because Intuit changed the release model for QuickBooks Desktop. Instead of launching a new version each year, it is maintaining and updating QuickBooks Desktop 2024, to spare customers the hassle of frequent upgrades.
Why people expect a 2025 or 2026 version
For more than two decades QuickBooks Desktop followed a yearly rhythm: a new edition every autumn, named after the following year, and the oldest editions retired about three years later. Many businesses still plan around that rhythm — so searching for "QuickBooks Desktop 2026" is a natural reflex. With the new release model, the year in the name stays at 2024 while the program keeps improving through updates.
How QuickBooks Desktop 2024 keeps improving
Version 2024 receives maintenance releases: fixes, compatibility updates and security patches delivered inside the program. To install them:
- Open QuickBooks and go to Help → Update QuickBooks Desktop.
- On the Update Now tab, click Get Updates.
- Close and reopen QuickBooks to finish installing.
In an office where several people share one company file, update every computer, so they all run the same release.
How to check which version you have
Press F2 anywhere in QuickBooks. The Product Information window shows the product name with its year — for example "QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus 2024" — together with the release you are on and your license number.
- If it says 2024, you are on the current version; just keep installing updates.
- If it says 2023 or earlier, your version has lost Intuit support: support for the 2023 versions ended after May 31, 2026. See Is QuickBooks Desktop discontinued? The 2026 status.
Be careful with "2025" and "2026" downloads
Because people search for versions that do not exist, some websites advertise "QuickBooks Desktop 2026" or "Enterprise 2026" installers, often with a phone number to call. They are not from Intuit. What this means for you
- Running 2024: nothing to buy. Keep it updated.
- Running 2023 or older: plan the move to 2024. Back up your company file first; 2024 upgrades the file the first time you open it.

- Waiting for a "2026" before buying: Intuit has not announced a new version or a timeline for one, so waiting only delays the switch.
